In my last post, I put up a link to the horrible commentary made by the Rob, Arnie and Dawn show. After that, I proceeded to fire off two emails. Once sent and copied to Rob, Arnie and their station's general manager. A second to every single sponsor listed on their website.

I was one of many... MANY others who did so. I did hear back from a few of the sponsors, mostly assuring me that they were aware of the situation and equally appalled by it. So far, 10 sponsors have pulled their support.

The station is crying uncle at this point.

Never underestimate the internet, man.

10 reasons why I am just not getting Twilight.

1. I'm at page 233 and I have yet to care about any of the characters in this book. I'm not kidding. I just paused and realized, I honestly don't care if Bella goes to Seattle with Edward. I'm really not caring if any of her high school friends hook up with each other or not. I'm actually somewhat intrigued by her parents, but they get so little screentime, I've already lost interest.

2. What... the... hell is up with... all the... ellipses.

3. Topaz eyes. Amongst other purple prose thick enough to choke an elephant. I find myself skipping over physical descriptions far too often. Usually because they've been repeated, repeatedly, already.

4. I realize this is a book for teenage girls, I keep trying to repeat that to myself like a mantra as I read Bella's thoughts. I realize teenagers are self absorbed, it's just part of the growing up process. I think this is why 1. is such an issue with me. I'm totally not impressed with the level of Bella's self absorbtion. There's nothing else to counter it to make me even remotely care about her. The way she treats her new friends is deplorable in many ways, bordering on downright condescending.

5. Talking. Heads. Oh, and enough with the 'He moaned', 'She interjected', 'He sighed', 'She squealed' stuff. 'He said' or 'She said' will suffice, thank you.

6. Surely there is some other way Bella and Edward can fall in love with each other that doesn't involve her constantly getting into mortal danger and requiring him to save her. SURELY.

7. He's a vampire. Or is he? I'm not quite convinced yet. Nothing in the book reveals his vampiric nature yet other than what we've been told (rather than shown). Yet Bella seems to accept this so easily and so swiftly it makes me wonder if perhaps she's touched in the head as well as way too self absorbed.

8. Stop telling me, start showing me. I'm really getting tired of having my hand held through lengthy explanations as to why things are the way they are.

9. I seriously just don't care about these characters. It bears repeating.

10. Vampire baseball. Do I need to say more?

Edit: To be honest, I'm almost expecting to see 'TAMAHOMEEEEE!' 'MIAAAAKAAA!' in the novel anytime, now.
